Baseball is Finished

Baseball, one of the major assignments for Small Format, is due today. I attended 11 games over more than a month! That’s hundreds upon hundreds of baseball pictures, all in search of peak action. At one point during the weeks leading up to this due date, our teacher said that when there are no base runners he will focus his lens on the batter. And with that little piece of advice I was able to capture this intimate moment between the catcher and the unsuspecting batter. I didn’t submit this for my assignment, but I did print a copy for my teacher at his request.

Pitcher ISO

Hi Dad! I don’t know how you ¬†know about getting what is called a pitcher ISO but you do. One of the photographs for the baseball project needs to be a pitcher with the ball just off his fingers, and this is the best one I’ve got so far.

Tyler Brosius

Thomasville’s Tyler Brosius pitches during the second inning in a game at Finch Field on June 5, 2013. Brosius was later drafted 643rd overall by the Atlanta Braves in the 21st round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft. (Photo by Mandy Powers)

I’ll miss hanging out with you on Father’s Day, Dad. Hope you have a great day!

Shooting Baseball

asheboro copperheads baseballOne of our major projects for the summer semester is the baseball project. We have six weeks to capture a variety of action shots, a picture of the pitcher, and an Americana shot. I’ve been to two games so far and it is both really hard and super fun. We are lucky as students to 1) have access to super big 300mm 2.8 lenses and 2) be allowed to attend the Asheboro Copperhead’s games for free!
